Your audio

When you drop a file on EarChord, the file is read by your own browser using the standard Web Audio decoder and the analysis runs in a Web Worker on your own processor. The audio is never sent to us, never sent to anyone else, and never written anywhere outside the tab. When you close or reload the page it is gone.

There is no upload endpoint in this product. It is not that we choose not to keep your recordings; there is no code path that would put them anywhere we could keep them. You can verify this in about ten seconds: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the network tab, and drop a file in. No request leaves your machine.

The Chrome extension works the same way. It reads audio the YouTube player is already producing in your tab, analyses it there, and makes no request to EarChord while it runs.

Accounts

There are none. No sign-up, no email address, no password, no profile, no saved history and no daily counter attached to you. Nothing about you is stored because nothing about you is collected.

Cookies and local storage

The website sets no cookies at all. The Chrome extension uses the browser's own extension storage to remember your preferences, such as which instrument you want fingerings for. That data stays in your browser and is never transmitted.

Analytics

The site counts page views using Counterscale, a self-hosted, open-source analytics tool running on our own infrastructure at cs.earchord.com. It records the page that was viewed, the referring site, and coarse device and country information derived from the request. It sets no cookie, assigns you no persistent identifier, and cannot follow you to any other website.

We use it to see which pages people find useful. It never sees your audio, your file names or anything you do inside the analyser, because none of that is reported to it.

Third parties

The site embeds no third-party fonts, trackers, widgets or social embeds. Typefaces are self-hosted and served from this domain, and the analytics beacon above is served from a subdomain of it.

One script does come from elsewhere: our host, Cloudflare, injects its own Web Analytics beacon from static.cloudflareinsights.com into every page. It measures page load performance, sets no cookie, and Cloudflare states that it does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites. It is not something this site's code asks for, and we intend to switch it off; this page will be updated when that happens.

If advertising is added in future, this section will say so before it appears, and it will name whoever is serving it.

Server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes the requests needed to deliver a page - IP address, user agent, the URL requested - as any web host does. These are used for delivery and abuse prevention, not for profiling, and they never contain any of your audio.

Children

EarChord collects no personal data from anyone, of any age. There is nothing to consent to because there is nothing being gathered.

Changes to this page

If the way the site handles data ever changes, this page changes first, and the date below changes with it. The promise that your audio stays in your browser is the product itself, so it is not something we expect to revisit.
