What re-entrant tuning changes

Standard ukulele tuning is re-entrant: the G string is above the C, not below it, so a uke never states a low root the way a guitar does. That does not stop chord detection, because pitch classes are what matter and octave placement is discarded. It does mean a solo ukulele recording gives weaker root evidence than a guitar, and the analyser leans more on the rest of the arrangement.

The instrument also has a narrow, bright range that sits high in the analysis band. Ukulele parts under a full mix can be swamped by anything with a bigger low end. If you are transcribing a uke part from a band recording, an intro or a break will read better than a full chorus.

Reading the shapes

Shapes are given for standard GCEA tuning, open positions where a common one exists and movable shapes otherwise. Baritone ukulele is tuned DGBE and uses guitar shapes for the top four strings; the chord names on the timeline are still correct, but the diagrams here will not match.

Does this work for baritone ukulele?
The chord names do, since they describe the music rather than the instrument. The diagrams assume standard GCEA tuning, so a baritone player should read the names and use their own shapes.
Can I use it on my own recording?
Yes, and a clean solo recording of your own playing is one of the easiest things for it to read. Record, drop the file in, and check the timeline against what you played.
